Off-Broadway News On Sugarland Closes at Off-Broadway's New York Theatre Workshop March 20

The new work from Is God Is and What to Send Up When It Goes Down playwright Aleshea Harris stars Kiki Layne.

Aleshea Harris' On Sugarland closes March 20 after officially opening March 3.

The play tells of young Sadie's search for the truth about her mother through a transcending call upon her matriarchal ancestors on the historied land beneath a modern-day cul-de-sac.

Featured in the cast are Kiki Layne, Stephanie Berry, Thomas Walter Booker, Xavier Scott Evans, Mister Fitzgerald, Josh Fulton, Charisma Glasper, Kai Heath, Shemar Yanick Jonas, Billy Eugene Jones, Marie, Lizan Mitchell, Adeola Role, and Caleb Eberhardt.

Obie Award-winner Whitney White serves as director with choreographer Raja Feather Kelly, scenic designer Adam Rigg, costume designer Qween Jean, lighting designer Amith Chandrashaker, sound designer and co-composer Mikaal Sulaiman, composer Starr Busby, hair and wig designer Earon Nealey, dramaturg Lauren Whitehead, and stage manager Alfredo Macias filling out the creative team. Fight direction is by UnkleDave's Fight-House and casting is by Taylor Williams.
