Is that the wind over our shoulder? David Yazbeck and Terrence McNally's The Full Monty will return to Broadway next season as a part of Roundabout Theatre Company's newly revealed 2026-2027 lineup.
The musical will come to the company's Haimes theatre on Broadway in spring 2027. With a book by McNally and music and lyrics by Yazbek, the musical comedy received 10 Tony nominations in 2001 for its heartfelt-yet-hilarious depiction of a group of out-of-work Buffalo men who turn to full-frontal striptease to make ends meet. The revival will be directed by Tony nominee Leigh Silverman and choreographed by Connor Gallagher, with casting and dates to be announced.
The company's Broadway season will kick off with a new adaptation of Moliere's hypochondriac comedy The Imaginary Invalid at the Haimes this fall. Adapted by and starring Bill Irwin, the production will be directed by Brandon J. Dirden. Winter at the Haimes will feature Dominique Morisseau's Mix and Master, directed by Kamilah Forbes and starring Tony winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson and two-time Tony winner Kara Young. Set in a Bronx record shop on the verge of closing, the production will feature live DJ sets throughout as the play turns up the volume on fighting to keep culture alive and in-person.
Off-Broadway, fall 2026 at the Laura Pels Theatre will kick off with new musical The Heart, with a book and additional lyrics by Kait Kerrigan (The Great Gatsby), and music and lyrics by Anne and Ian Eisendrath (KPOP Demon Hunters). Directed by Christopher Ashley, the piece will feature choreography by Taylor Swift's Eras Tour choreographer Mandy Moore as they bring to life Maylis de Kerangal's 2014 novel Réparer les vivants.
Winter at the Pels will center on a joint production with New York Theatre Workshop, The Grief Eater Near North Venter by Dylan Guerra. Directed by Dustin Wills, the surreal comic fable explores grief, loyalty, and the cost of facing what we'd rather outrun. Lastly, spring 2027 at the Pels will see a revival of V (formerly Eve Ensler)'s The Vagina Monologues, directed by Noma Dumezweni. Based on 200 interviews, the play is a series of fictional monologues about sex, trauma, pleasure, and birth. When it premiered in 1996, The Vagina Monologues broke taboos, lifted shame, and empowered women to talk about things they never talked about before—from joy and desire to pain and violence. Roundabout's upcoming revival celebrates its 30th anniversary.
“The season Scott [Ellis] and I have shaped builds on what Roundabout has always believed: that theatre can hold the classic and the urgent side by side. We’re proud to have new work anchoring our season, even as we revisit a landmark comedy with fresh eyes and make room for a big, unabashedly entertaining musical,” says incoming Artistic Director Christopher Ashley in a statement.
Performance dates, ticketing information, and further casting and creatives are to be announced. For more information on the full season, visit RoundaboutTheatre.org.
