59E59 Theaters Reveals Summer 2026 Season
Hershey Felder’s The Piano and Me, Sharon Scott Williams's Crazy Mama: A True Story of Love and Madness, and more will play the NYC venue.

The lineup has been revealed for 59E59's summer 2026 season, offering a mix of solo plays, comedies, familiar favorites, and new dramas. The season also includes the annual East to Edinburgh Festival, which supports U.S. theatre companies preparing their works for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
The season will kick off with Hershey Felder’s autobiographical work The Piano and Me, running July 7-August 23. Next, The 6th Act will present the New York premiere of Matthew Leavitt's Sukkot from July 11-August 9, directed by Joel Zwick. With direction by Peter Charney, Through the Tollbooth Co. will present Brendan George's The Vessel July 30-August 23.
Co-op resident companies Negro Ensemble Company, Inc and New Light Theater Project will also return this season with two new plays: Terence Anthony's The House of the Negro Insane running August 14-September 6 with Daniel Carlton at the helm, as well as Stephen Sheffer's Lean-To, directed by Jesse Jou. It will run September 10-October 10.
Rubicon Theatre Company will present Crazy Mama: A True Story of Love and Madness from September 16-October 18, written by Sharon Scott Williams, directed by Anson Williams, and starring Linda Purl.
Further casting and creative team information for the summer season's productions will be revealed at a later date.
