Three-time Edinburgh Fringe First Award winners Xhloe and Natasha will make their Off-Broadway debut at Ars Nova with their award-winning play, And Then The Rodeo Burned Down, directed by Tom Costello and co-artistic directed by Andrew Neisler and Anna Morton Stacey. And Then The Rodeo Burned Down runs at Ars Nova May 1–June 18.
“As soon as we met Xhloe and Natasha, we knew their work belonged at Ars Nova,” Neisler and Morton Stacey shared in a statement. “Their savvy, mischievous comedy combines a downtown DIY aesthetic with a sly cultural critique that will surprise and delight everyone who sees it. We are so excited to introduce And Then The Rodeo Burned Down to New York theater audiences and give Xhloe and Natasha the launch they deserve!”
The creative team also includes set designer Emmie Finckel, co-costume designer Christopher Ford, lighting designer Angelo Sagnelli, co-sound designer Carsen Joenk, and production stage manager Cherie B. Tay.
And Then The Rodeo Burned Down follows Dale, a mischievous rodeo clown with big dreams of becoming a cowboy. The play is, according to press notes, a “rowdy, lightning-fast story of ambition, heartbreak, and the cost of pursuing the thing you love. Fake cigarettes, real fire.”
“We are so excited to get to fully share this show with a New York City audience,” Xhloe and Natasha shared in a statement. “The show was created here, based in our struggle to make ends meet any way possible in one of the most artistically rich but also expensive places in the world. We couldn’t imagine a better home than Ars Nova to help use share this show with the city we call home.”
