Signature Theatre 2026-2027 season, continuing its model of long-term artistic support for Resident Artists, will feature works by its newest resident, Pulitzer Prize finalist Eisa Davis; Mother Russia and Cambodian Rock Band playwright Lauren Yee; inaugural Launchpad Resident Melis Aker; ensemble company The Mad Ones; and Animal Wisdom artist Heather Christian.

Signature will team with WP Theatre to present Aker’s Fish, in association with New Light Theater Project and consulting producer Noor Theater Company, September 26-October 25 at WP Theater. The play is set in 2016 London as 17-year-old Karya is navigating her brother’s unresolved disappearance. When her mother’s outrageous theory about his whereabouts starts to gain traction, Karya decides to put it to the test.

Yee’s semi-autobiographical King of the Yees will begin in October at the Signature's home at The Pershing Square Signature Center. Yellow Face Tony winner Francis Jue, who performed as Yee’s character’s father in San Francisco and Chicago, will reprise the role for the new Signature staging. Also returning to the play, set in San Francisco's Chinatown following the sudden disappearance of Larry Yee, is director Joshua Kahan Brody.

Miles for Mary, Signature’s first production from Resident Artists The Mad Ones, will follow in February 2027. The new production of the 2018 play is set in 1988 Garrison, Ohio, and charts the strained preparatory discussions among faculty members for a high school charity telethon. The Mad Ones features writers and performers Marc Bovino, Joe Curnutte, Michael Dalto, Stephanie Wright Thompson, and Lila Neugebauer.

In May 2027 Obie winner Davis will launch her residency with Angela’s Mixtape, her impressionistic early play mining memories from her family life, including her relationship to her aunt, legendary activist Angela Davis.

Signature will also utilize the Pershing Square Signature Center’s lobby this season with various events, including community concerts of Heather Christian’s TERCE: A Practical Breviary—a rethinking of a monastic morning mass featuring a community choir of 30-plus caregivers and makers—in November 2026. The free and open-to-the-public presentations will be directed by Keenan Tyler Oliphant, who is staging Christian’s Animal Wisdom as the conclusion of the 2025-2026 season (performing May 5-June 14). Also continuing next season is Signature Jazz, curated by Solomon Gottfried, which celebrates innovative jazz music in an intimate, relaxed Monday evening setting in the lobby.

Additional casting and creative team members for the various productions will be announced at a later date.
