Sean Hayes Solo Play The Unknown Recoups Off-Broadway
Leigh Silverman is directing David Cale's new work, which will stream its final weekend of performances.

The Off-Broadway premiere of David Cale’s The Unknown, starring Tony, Emmy and SAG winner Sean Hayes, has recouped its $1.125 million capitalization.
The production has recouped within its 10-week record-breaking run at Studio Seaview, where Hayes began performances January 31 and officially opened on February 12. The strictly limited engagement will end on April 12. Leigh Silverman is at the helm.
The play follows Elliott, a writer desperate to cure his writer's block. When he retreats to a remote cabin to write his thriller, he begins to question whether or not he is living in one, as he discovers he may not be alone. Read the reviews here.

The Unknown will stream its final weekend of performances, April 10-April 12, with digital tickets available for purchase. Streams will open 30 minutes prior to curtain, with special pre-show content available. Digital audience members are encouraged to log on early. The production features scenic design by Studio Bent, costume design by Sarah Laux, lighting design by Cha See, sound design by Caroline Eng, and music by Isobel Waller-Bridge. Jason Hindelang serves as production stage manager, with production management by Hudson Theatrical Associates. Envoy Theatricals' Sam Dallas is the general manager.
Sean Hayes most recently appeared on the New York theatre scene in Good Night, Oscar on Broadway in 2023, winning a Tony Award for his performance. He recently repeated his role as Oscar Levant for audiences in London's West End.
