Career Opportunities in Murder and Mayhem, starring Broadway vet Mandy Patinkin, has received a ten-episode order at Hulu. Deadline reports that Patinkin and television actor Violett Beane (FOX's The Resident) will be leading the drama, expected to premiere in September.
The Tony winner will play Rufus Cotesworth, a detective traveling the Mediterranean with a group of rich individuals. Beane steps in as his protégée. The two work together to discover if they are in the company of a murderer.
The drama is written by co-showrunners Mike Weiss and Heidi Cole McAdams with the pilot directed by Marc Webb. Patinkin is known for his work on stage and screen, including originating the role of George in Broadway's Sunday in the Park with George, Che in Evita, Marvin in Falsettos, and Burr in The Wild Party. His TV roles include playing Jason Gideon in the first three seasons of Criminal Minds and Saul Berenson in the Showtime thriller Homeland.
