John Cameron Mitchell to Embark on 25th Anniversary Tour of Hedwig and the Angry Inch Film
Mitchell is taking the 2001 film out on tour, welcoming fans of the cult classic back into Hedwig's glamorously punk-rock world.

The 2001 film adaptation of John Cameron Mitchell's Hedwig and the Angry Inch turns 25 this year, and the film is returning to the silver screen to celebrate.
Mitchell, currently back on Broadway leading Oh, Mary!, is taking the film adaptation out on tour, welcoming fans of the cult classic back into Hedwig's glamorously punk-rock world. Beginning June 14 in Orlando, the North American tour will visit Atlanta, Minneapolis, Toronto, Montreal, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Austin, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Boston.

Each stop on the tour will feature a 4K screening of the film (with the exception of Chicago, where an original 35mm print will be shown), followed by an in-person conversation with Mitchell featuring behind-the-scenes stories from its creation, audience Q&A, and a special acoustic performance—with post-show meet-and-greet add-ons available.
Prior to every screening a costume contest will be held, with prizes from sponsors The Criterion Collection and The Punk Rock Museum awarded to the winners. Come dressed in your favorite Hedwig look, channel your favorite punk rock icon, or pay tribute to Mitchell himself: the transformative power is in your hands.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch—written by Mitchell with songs by Stephen Trask—began life as a 1998 Off-Broadway musical starring Mitchell in the title role, ultimately winning the Obie and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Off-Broadway Musical. The show has remained a cult favorite amongst theatre fans, thanks in no small part to this film version (which features Mitchell reprising his stage performance) and a starry 2014 Broadway bow that saw Neil Patrick Harris, Taye Diggs, and more slipping into Hedwig's fabulous heels.
