The Tony winners have teamed up with writer-director Michael Sarnoski bring a new, modern take on the classic legend to the screen.

Tony winners Hugh Jackman (The Music Man) and Jodie Comer (Prima Facie) have teamed up for a new screen version of the Robin Hood legend, penned by Michael Sarnoski (Pig). Get a first look at The Death of Robin Hood below.

The film, which is also directed by Sarnoski,  depicts the final days of the robber outlaw, who finds himself seriously injured and under the care of a mysterious woman offering a chance at salvation. 

In addition to Jackman and Comer, the film features Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett and Noah Jupe. A cinema release from A24 is pending.

Jackman is a two-time Tony honoree, winning Best Leading Actor in a Musical in 2004 for his Broadway debut performance as Peter Allen in The Boy From Oz and a 2012 Special Tony in recognition of his concert engagement Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway. On screen, he played Jean Valjean in Les Misérables, but is arguably best known for his long run as Wolverine in the X-Men franchise.

Comer is primarily a screen star, leading Killing Eve for the BBC and the TV film Help. She made her West End debut in 2022's Prima Facie, and brought the performance to Broadway the following year. Comer won both the Olivier and Tony Awards for her performance in the Suzie Miller-penned solo play.

Lyrical Media financed The Death of Robin Hood, with Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett producing for Ryder Picture Company with Alexander Black producing for Lyrical Media. Lyrical’s Jon Rosenberg and Natalie Sellers executive produce with Rama Gottumukkala, Sarnoski, and Jackman. The film is expected to premiere this year.
