Nominations for the 32nd Actor Awards, previously titled the SAG Awards, were revealed January 7.

Held by the Screen Actors Guild, the Actor Awards are the only major ceremony that honors actors via a jury of their peers. There is a strong correlation between this nominee set and those who go on to be nominated for Academy Awards, with more than 75 percent of Actor Award nominees also receiving an Oscar nomination.

The ceremony will stream live globally on Netflix March 1.

Naturally, a large portion of the nominated performers boast theatrical bonafides. This year's nominees for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role include Timothée Chalamet for his performance in the ping-pong drama Marty Supreme, Ethan Hawke for his performance as Lorenz Hart in Blue Moon, and Michael B. Jordan for his dual-character performance in the musical horror film Sinners. 

In the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role category, theatre actors had a similarly strong showing, with Jessie Buckley receiving a nod for the Shakespeare-inspired film Hamnet, Rose Byrne recognized for the comedy If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Kate Hudson nominated for her performance in the quasi-musical film Song Sung Blue, and Emma Stone receiving a nod for the black comedy Bugonia.

The supporting categories were similarly theatrical, with Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role nominees Miles Caton from Sinners, Paul Mescal from Hamnet, and Sean Penn from One Battle After Another, and with Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role nominees Ariana Grande for Wicked: For Good, Amy Madigan for Weapons, and Wunmi Mosaku for Sinners.

In the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture category, which honors the entirety of a film's principal cast, Hamnet and Sinners both netted nominations.
