Broadway babies, have we got a show for you! There's a new half-hour comedy series about the theatre coming to MGM+. See the first trailer for American Classic above, starring Oscar winner Kevin Kline, Emmy winner Laura Linney, and some other familiar Broadway faces.

In American Classic, Kline plays a Broadway star named Richard Bean, who moves back to his hometown after suffering a public breakdown following a terrible review from a theatre critic. Back home, he begins producing at his family’s theatre, only to find that there’s plenty of drama on and off the stage. The show also stars Jon Tenney as Richard's brother, Jon; and Linney as Richard's sister-in-law and the town mayor, Kristen. Len Cariou, Jane Alexander, Jessica Hecht, Tony Shalhoub, Aaron Tveit, Stephen Spinella, Nell Verlaque, Billy Carter, Elise Kibler, Ajay Friese, and Mark Linn-Baker will also make appearances.

The series is co-created by Michael Hoffman and Bob Martin, who promise that every season of the series will follow one Richard Bean production that will, according to press notes, “reflect the stories unfolding in the lovable but flawed Bean family and the transformative power of making art.” Season 1 follows a production of Our Town

American Classic debuts March 1 with a two-episode premiere on MGM+. The eight-episode first season will be released every Sunday through April 12.
