Stewart, who died in 1997, was a major star of mid-century cinema with a prolific 56-year career that included starring roles in such iconic films as The Philadelphia StoryMr. Smith Goes to WashingtonIt's a Wonderful LifeHarveyRear WindowAnatomy of a MurderThe Shop Around the Corner, and many others.

But the actor began his career on Broadway, making his debut in Carry Nation in 1932. One of his most noted screen roles, the imaginary rabbit-seeing Elwood P. Dowd in Mary Chase's Harvey, actually saw Stewart recreating a performance he'd given on the Main Stem, though as a replacement during the play's original run. Stewart's final Broadway performance would be a return to the part in a 1970 revival.

Directed by Aaron Burns, Jimmy also features performances from Jason Alexander as Louis B. Mayer, Courtney D'Angelo as Rita Hayworth, Elysée Sanvillé as Lana Turner, Max Casella as Frank Capra, Sarah Drew as Hedda Hopper, and Rob Riggle as Colonel Terrill. The screenplay is written by Justin Strawhand.
