London News Mischief Theatre's Christmas Carol Goes Wrong Will Be Filmed Following West End Run

The holiday comedy from the Play That Goes Wrong creators brings the chaos and humor of The Cornley Amateur Drama Society to the work of Charles Dickens.

Following the West End run of Mischief Theatre's Christmas Carol Goes Wrongwhich continues at London's Apollo through January 25, the production will be recorded live.

Filming is scheduled for February 5 at 2:30 PM and 7:30 PM at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre. Distribution plans for the live capture are currently being finalized and will be announced at a later time, although tickets are currently available for the live filming.

Following the West End engagement, the comedy will play Nottingham Theatre Royal, the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, the Edinburgh Festival Theatre, the King’s Theatre in Glasgow, and the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury, where the tour concludes March 1.

Turning this Christmas classic into chaos are Matt Cavendish as Max, Daniel Fraser as Chris, Sasha Frost as Sandra (with Ashley Tucker taking over at Nottingham), Chris Leask as Trevor, Henry Lewis as Robert, Jonathan Sayer as Dennis, Greg Tannahill as Jonathan, and Nancy Zamit and Dumile Sibanda sharing the role of Annie. The understudies are Alex Bird, Will Bishop, Siobhan Cha Cha, Colm Gleeson, and Paige Round.

The latest from The Play That Goes Wrong comedy theatre group Mischief Theatre began performances at the Apollo December 6, 2025, prior to an official opening December 14.

The brand-new comedy brings the chaos and humor of The Cornley Amateur Drama Society to the work of Charles Dickens, via original members and writers of the Mischief team Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields. A fictional theatre company is trying to put on the holiday classic, but mishaps keep getting in the way.

The production also features set design by Libby Todd, costume design by Roberto Surace, lighting design by David Howe, and sound design and music by composer Alexandra Faye Braithwaite.

Christmas Carol Goes Wrong is produced by Kenny Wax and Stage Presence. The production marks the return of director Matt DiCarlo, following his West End directorial debut with The Comedy About Spies.

The live capture will be produced by Mischief Screen, in collaboration with Emma Keith for The Knighton Group, and filmed by Human Eyes.
