Jonathan Groff has been cast in the upcoming M. Night Shyamalan movie, Knock At the Cabin. The two-time Tony nominee will join Fleabag's Ben Aldridge alongside the already-announced actors Dave Bautista (Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy), Rupert Grint (Harry Potter), and Nikki Amuka-Bird (National Theatre's Welcome to Thebes), according to Deadline.
Details are under wraps for the upcoming project. It is set to premiere February 3, 2023 and follows Shyamalan’s Old, also starring Amuka-Bird. The movie sees Shyamalan as both writer and director. Shyamalan, Ashwin Rajan, Marc Bienstock, and Steven Schneider will produce.
Prior to this new role, Groff was seen onscreen in the latest installment in The Matrix franchise as Agent Smith. Additionally, he held a leading role in David Fincher's Mindhunter series, streaming on Netflix.
His theatre roles include originating the role of Melchior Gabor in Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater's Spring Awakening and King George III in Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton. Groff was most recently seen opening the Off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors as Seymour Krelborn. The role has since been passed on to Jeremy Jordan and Conrad Ricamora, with Ricamora currently starring in the Westside Theatre production.
