TOOLS FOR AN ARTIST IN PROCESS

New York Theatre Workshop, Dominican Arts Collective, and Oye Group have partnered to present Tools for An Artist in Process, a masterclass series with six classes presented June 5, 12, and 26. Applications for the classes are due May 20.

The series, which has been developed for multi-disciplinary artists wishing to tell their cultural stories, is taught by Dominican artists at NYTW's 3rd Floor Rehearsal Room. Each class will finish with a Q&A session and the sharing of resources.

Two classes will be taught each day. June 5, Josefina Baez will virtually teach "Writing, Storytellng, & Nurturing an Idea," while Cindy De La Cruz and Merlixse Ventura will co-teach "Producing the Artist." June 12, Elvis Nolasco will teach an acting class titled "How to Tell a Compelling Story," and Gabriela Ortega will virtually teach "Filmmaking & Multimedia Storytelling." Lastly, Yasser Tejeda will teach "Storytelling through Music & Composition," and Eunice Levis will teach "Directing (How to Set Up Your Vision)" June 26.

The Dominican Artists Collective, in residency at NYTW, is an artist group seeking to dismantle systemic oppression through art. Joined by NYTW and Brooklyn-based production company Oye Group, which focuses on politically- and socially-engaged art, classes in the masterclass series can be applied to individually, though applicants are encouraged to apply to the entire series.
