33 New Musicals Will Be Developed at 2026 Drama Club Camp Writer Residencies

The Maine-based program hosts a week of writing and community complete with feedback sessions, a recording studio, and more resources.

Over 30 new musicals will be developed this summer at the 2026 Drama Club Camp Writer Residencies in Mount Vernon, Maine. The free program connects writing teams of new musicals as a cohort for a week of writing and community surrounded by two lakes, miles of nature trails, writing cabins, and recording studio and rehearsal room access. Five week-long cohorts of 13 artists each will begin in June and continue through August.

This year's musicals include A Pain in the Neck by Erin Reifler and Zonia Tsang; Americannibal by Nick Jonczak and Laura Lizcano; Bad Baby by Aaron Jafferis and Dahlak Brathwaite; barbara/tony by Adam J. Rineer; BLUDLINE: A Hip-Hop Odyssey by Pete White and Fermin Suero Jr.; Cocaine Cowgirl by Veronica Carrington and Indigo; Cole Porter is my Imaginary VR Boyfriend by Charles Gershman and Dylan Schifrin; Contact by Eric Ulloa and Brett Ryback; Diamond by Morgan J. Smart and Crystal Moneé Hall; Diva of Oz by Deborah D.E.E.P. Victoria Campbell and Stephanie Henry; Spanglish Sh!t by Samora la Perdida, Mobéy Lola Isiarry, Josiah Handelman, and David Zwieibel; Stay by Jonathan O’Neill and Isaac Savage; Take Two by Leta Harris Neustaedter; The Bigness of Us by Jord Liu; The Bozos by Adam Gwon and Michael Mitnick; The Chest by Charles Inniss and Christopher Inniss; The Closure by Dylan Hartwell, Matt Sav, and Molly Lyons; The Debutantes by Sam Norman and Eliza Randall; The Last Dance by Josh Walker; The Spell of Red River by EllaRose Chary and Brando(n) James Gwinn; The Untitled KUSAMA Project by Andrew Strano and Yuriko Shibata; and Weeping Time [working title] by Postell Pringle.
