Producers Barbara Manocherian, Tom Smedes, Roy Gabay, and Chris Burney will host a private industry presentation of Douglas Carter Beane's The Little Dog Laughed in NYC March 4. The presentation is being held with plans for a full Broadway revival as the project's next step.
The comedy premiered Off-Broadway via Second Stage in 2006, transferring to Broadway the same year and earning a Tony nomination for Best Play. The work follows an actor, his girlfriend, his agent, and the male hustler he's got the hots for. Julie White won a Tony Award playing the agent attempting to save her client from his own homosexuality, a role that has now been reimagined for Tony winner Billy Porter for the upcoming presentation.
Also starring will be Luke Macfarlane and Cooper Koch. Sheryl Kaller (Next Fall) is directing.
