“We are so excited to be presenting Jerry Herman’s first musical masterpiece,” said Schneider in a statement. “This incredibly textured and nuanced score will be a great way to not only celebrate Mr. Herman’s debut as one of the Golden Age’s greatest songwriters but to remind New York audiences of the power of his storytelling.”
Milk and Honey began previews at the Martin Beck Theatre (now the Hirschfeld) October 9, 1961, before officially opening October 10. The musical ran a total of 544 performances before closing January 26, 1963. It was nominated for five 1962 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
The stage manager is Brody Redman, the associate stage manager is Maria Papadopoulos, and the dramaturg Frederick Miller.
Milk and Honey is presented in arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Tams-Witmark LLC.
