New York Theatre Barn has found a number of stage favorites for the upcoming March 9 season opener for its New Works Series, set to feature excerpts from developing musicals 90 Seconds and The Only Way Out, as previously announced. The performance, which will also stream live, will be held at Five Angels Theater in Manhattan. NYTB Artistic Director Joe Barros and South Asians On Broadway's Devi Peot will co-host the evening.

90 Seconds, by Einstina Sneha and Obe Vermeulen, centers on India's 2001 Gujarat earthquake, and the surprising stories that emerged from its aftermath. On hand to perform material from the show will be Vishal Vaidya (Merrily We Roll Along), Nehal Joshi (The Cottage), Esha Chatha, Kimberly Chatterjee, and Swetha Vissapragada. Ryan Dobrin (Merrily We Roll Along) is directing, and Vermeulen is music directing.

The Only Way Out, written by Déa Thatcher (Cabaret), centers on her grandfather, George Thatcher. The senior Thatcher was convicted of murder in England in 1963 for the so-called Mitcham Co-op Murder, the result of a botched robbery. Thatcher was wrongly accused, but sentenced to death. Always maintaining his innocence, Thatcher ultimately served 18 years of a life sentence before being released. The project will be performed by George Abud (Lempicka), Elizabeth Ward Land (Memphis), Gregory Treco (Hamilton), Garrett Turner (Thoughts of a Colored Man), and KT Thomas. Leia Squillace is directing, with music direction by Sharon Ahn (The Queen of Versailles). Bryan Knowlton (A Chorus Line) will serve as associate director.

Both in-person and streaming tickets are available at NYTheaterBarn.org.
