Terence Archie, Rita Harvey, Vicki Lewis, More Will Star in The Man Who Would Be King Musical Off-Broadway

DJ Salisbury will direct the new musical he co-wrote with Neil Berg.

Casting is set for the upcoming Off-Broadway engagement of the new musical The Man Who Would Be King, which will play the Theatre at St. Luke's March 25–April 3.

The epic musical adventure, featuring a book and lyrics by DJ Salisbury and music by Neil Berg, will feature direction by Salisbury, music direction by Andrew Gerle, and music supervision by Wendy Bobbitt Cavett. 

The cast of the AEA Approved Showcase will include Terence Archie (Company, Ragtime), Shanel Bailey (The Book of Mormon, Gypsy), Josh Canfield (Natasha, Pierre…, Doctor Zhivago), Coleman Cummings (Rent tour, Shooting Star), Rita Harvey (Fiddler, Phantom), Vicki Lewis (Damn Yankees, Chicago), Trevor Martin (Pirates of Penzance, Carousel), Wesley Slade, and Katie Thompson (The SpongeBob Musical). 

Based on Rudyard Kipling's novella of the same name, The Man Who Would Be King is set in 1888 Imperial British India and follows two rogues who chase imperial dreams into the remote Hindu Kush, where they attempt to rule a mythical culture as kings.

The stage manager is Sam Forrest. 

The musical has had a developmental reading at The Village Theater in Issaquah, Washington, a staged reading at the Rubicon Theater in California as part of the Los Angeles Musical Theatre Festival, and a showcase presentation at the New York Musical Theatre Festival. The upcoming showcase will be the first staging of the musical in New York City.

A concept album, featuring Brian d'Arcy James, Marc Kudisch, Judy McLane, Paul Schoeffler, Don Richard, and Mandy Gonzalez, is available on iTunes.
