The new Disney+ original film Better Nate Than Ever hits the streaming platform April 1. Watch the trailer for the film above.
Based on the coming-of-age book series by Broadway veteran Tim Federle (Tuck Everlasting, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series), the musical comedy follows seventh grader Nate Foster and his dreams of performing on Broadway. He hops on a bus to the city to crash an open audition for a fictional musical version of the Disney film Lilo & Stitch, where he meets his long-lost aunt and struggling actress Heidi, played by Friends star Lisa Kudrow.
Joining newcomer Rueby Wood as Nate is High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star Joshua Bassett, who plays Nate's older brother Anthony. Also starring in the movie is newcomer Aria Brooks and two-time Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz.
The film is directed and written by Federle, whose Broadway credits include penning the revised book to Tuck Everlasting and performing in The Little Mermaid and the 2003 Bernadette Peters-led revival of Gypsy. Federle is also known for creating and serving as showrunner on Disney+'s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
Better Nate Than Ever is produced by Marc Platt, the producer behind Broadway's Wicked and the movie adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen, and Adam Siegel.
