From new seasons of favorite series to film adaptations of favorite books, streaming platforms are giving a lot of great options this month. Tune in to Hulu for Season 3 of Only Murders in the Building or Disney+ for the final season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. And, of course, we've been practically beside ourselves waiting for the premiere of Red, White, & Royal Blue, Amazon's film adaptation of the best-selling romance novel.

When Alex, the son of the President of the United States meets Henry, His Royal Highness, Prince of Wales, it's going to be an international affair. Emphasis on the affair. The new rom-com Red, White & Royal Blue stars Taylor Zachary Perez as Alex and Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Henry, the duo whose public feud is beginning to affect U.S.-British relations. That is, of course, until the feud turns to romance and starts a whole new problem. Uma Thurman stars as Alex's mom, the President of the United States. Based on Casey McQuiston's best-selling novel of the same name, the new movie features a script co-written by Matthew López (Tony-winning playwright of The Inheritence) and Ted Malawer. López also makes his film directorial debut with the movie. Stream it August 11.
When you say, "Tovah Feldshuh as Bat Lady," we say, "All in." Harlan Coben’s Shelter centers on teen Mickey Bolitar after the sudden death of his father. After relocating to a new town, he finds himself tangled in the mysterious disappearance of another new student at his school. Mickey teams up with a couple of other students to find out what happened to Ashley and ends up uncovering the quiet town's long-held secrets. (More on Bat Lady, please.) Based on the book series of the same name, the eight-episode series premieres August 18.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, created by Tim Federle, is getting super meta for its fourth and final season. As the gang prepares to perform their senior show, High School Musical 3: Senior Year (meta), they find out that Disney has announced it will be filming the long-awaited High School Musical 4: The Reunion movie on location at East High and they will be playing featured extras (super meta). Much of the HSMTMTS main cast returns, including Broadway faces Kate Reinders and Julia Lester, with guest appearances from several members of the original High School Musical film. Stream all eight episodes August 9.

It looks like this season the amateur podcasting detectives from Only Murders in the Building will be leaving the building. Having solved two murders in their Upper West Side apartment, The Arconia, the trio of resident gumshoes, played by Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, have a new murder on their hands...this time at a Broadway theatre. By the end of Season 2, the success of their true crime podcast had put former actor Charles (Martin) back in the spotlight and theatre producer Oliver (Short) was getting attention again. The finale episode closed on opening night of Oliver’s new Main Stem show, with a trench coat-clad Charles on stage and Mabel dressed to the nines in the audience. Suddenly, the actor playing opposite Charles (Paul Rudd) collapses dead, and we’re given just a few short scenes that hint our heroes may be suspects. Along with Rudd, Meryl Streep joins the cast this season. And if the previous two seasons are any indicator, we’re expecting lots of appearances from Broadway favorites, especially now since the scenery has shifted into an actual theatre. The first two of ten episodes drop August 8, followed by weekly releases.

Two-time Tony winner Matthew Broderick stars as Purdue Pharma exec Richard Sackler alongside Tony nominee Uzo Aruba as U.S. official who starts asking questions about OxyContinin in the new series Painkiller. The fictionalized retelling of the origins and aftermath of the opioid epidemic looks to unpack who should be held responsible for the crisis affecting hundreds of thousands of Americans. The series also stars Taylor Kitsch, Carolina Bartczak, Tyler Ritter, West Duchovny, and Dina Shihabi. Binge it August 10.
