Shaina Taub's musical Suffs will be broadcast on PBS May 8 at 9 PM EST. But if you want to watch it in theatres with an audience, the film will screen in NYC at The Town Hall May 4 at 7 PM, in partnership with The Public Theater (where the musical made its pre-Broadway world premiere).

Following the screening, there will be a moderated discussion led by Tony nominee Phillipa Soo (who was in the Off-Broadway production of Suffs), between show creator-star Shaina Taub, Tony nominee Leigh Silverman (who directed), and Tony winner Nikki M. James (who starred as Ida B. Wells). Members of the original Broadway cast will then reunite for a live piano performance of “Keep Marching.”

Tickets for the event can be purchased at TheTownHall.org.

Suffs will be able to stream beginning May 8 at 9 PM EST on PBS.org and via the PBS app. Suffs, which ran on Broadway March 26, 2024–January 5, 2025, follows the real-life women who pushed for passage of the 19th amendment, which gave women the right to vote. Taub won two Tonys for Suffs, for Best Book and Best Score, making her the first woman to win in both categories by herself. The filmed version was captured by PBS with the show's original Broadway cast in 2024.

In May, Great Performances will broadcast a number of theatre-themed works. On May 15, it will air Tony-winning director-choreographer Kathleen Marshall's new revival of Irving Berlin's Top Hat, about a Broadway star and a model who fall in love. On May 22, PBS will air An Evening with Nicole Scherzinger, the Tony winner's 2025 concert in London's Royal Albert Hall.

PBS is currently in the 20th season of Great Performances at the Met, where it's broadcasting shows from the opera house, including The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, La Sonnambula, and more.
