Casting is by Natalie Gallacher, for Pippa Ailion and Natalie Gallacher Casting.

Two-time Tony winner Casey Nicholaw (Some Like It Hot, The Book of Mormon) will direct and choreograph the musical, which is based on the 2017 musical film of the same name starring Hugh Jackman. Tim Federle (Tuck Everlasting, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) will pen the book, adapted from Jenny Bicks and Bill Condon's screenplay; and EGOT-winning song writers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hansen) are writing the score, with Paul also supplying vocal and incidental music arrangements. The pair wrote the film's songs, including the Golden Globe-winning "This Is Me," and will pen new tunes for the stage adaptation as well. The stage musical, being produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, was revealed at the 2024 iteration of Disney fan convention D23.

“It’s an absolute joy to finally share our incredible cast with the world—led by the brilliant Oliver Tompsett and Samantha Barks," says Nicholaw in a statement. "After an exhaustive search we have gathered a group of artists whose talent will bring to life this fantastic story—with a theatrical new book by Tim Federle and the beloved score created by Pasek and Paul. Together with a world-class creative team, we are so excited to bring this story to life for the first time on stage.”

“Roles like this don’t come along very often, so it’s an absolute privilege to be taking on this incredible character in the original company of The Greatest Showman," says Tompsett. "I’m so very fortunate to be surrounded by the most brilliant cast—Sam, Ben, Lorna, Malinda, and Vajèn—and can’t wait to begin the creative process with Casey and the team in the rehearsal room.”

“I’m thrilled to be rejoining the Disney family to play Charity Barnum," adds Barks. "There is something utterly magical about The Greatest Showman—the songs have become instant classics—and I’m so excited to partner with Olly to bring this incredible couple and their enduring love to life on stage.”

Newly joining the creative team are music supervisor, incidental and dance music arranger and orchestrator Alex Lacamoire; scenic designer David Korins; costume designers Gregg Barnes and Sky Switser; lighting designer Natasha Katz; sound designer Peter Hylenski; video designer George Reeve; circus creation and designer Lorenzo Pisoni; hair and wig designer Josh Marquette; make-up designer Milagros Medina-Cerdeira; special effect designer Jeremy Chernick; and illusion designer Skylar Fox. Children's general management and casting direction is by Keston & Keston.

The fan favorite 2017 film starred Hugh Jackman as real-world circus impresario P.T. Barnum, with the plot following his journey creating the iconic and long-running circus show with a group of unlikely performers. The forthcoming stage musical will be the second stage musical about Barnum's life, following Cy Coleman, Mark Bramble, and Michael Stewart's Barnum, which premiered on Broadway in 1980.

Ticket sales begin November 4 at 12 PM BST with registration at TheGreatestShowman.co.uk. General sales will begin November 6 at 10 AM BST.
