The 98th Annual Academy Awards took place March 15 at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles. The event was broadcast on ABC and livestreamed on Hulu. And musicals and Shakespeare got some love.
Animated movie musical KPop Demon Hunters won Best Animated Feature Film. Directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, and producer Michelle L.M. Wong accepted the award.
"Golden" from KPop Demon Hunters also won Best Original Song, making Oscars history as the first Kpop song to win an Oscar. EJAE, Mark Sonnenblick, Joong Gyu Kwak, Yu Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam, Jeong Hoon Seo, and Teddy Park accepted the award. See Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami perform the Oscar-winning song above.

Stage and screen actor Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for her performance in Hamnet, where she played Agnes, the wife of William Shakespeare. The film, based on Maggie O'Farrell's novel, details how the Shakespeares process their grief following the death of their son Hamnet—which inspired the play Hamlet.

Horror movie musical Sinners won Best Original Screenplay, for director Ryan Coogler. It also won Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan, Best Original Score for Ludwig Goransson, and Best Cinematography for Autumn Durald Arkapaw. Sinners was up for a record-breaking 16 Academy Awards.
Two nominees from Best Original Song were presented throughout the evening. First up was the musical performance from Sinners, and their nominated song "I Lied to You." Watch the film's cast, led by Miles Caton, perform the epic number (which included an appearance from ballerina Misty Copeland) below. Sinners really does care about ballet, there was also a ballerina in that sequence in the movie.
EGOT winner Barbra Streisand gave a speech honoring the late Robert Redford, and sang "The Way We Were," the Marvin Hamlisch-Alan Bergman-Marilyn Bergman song from the film the two starred in together. See her tribute below.
And Broadway favorite Josh Groban also showed up to sing a medieval-themed song about Oscar winners with host Conan O'Brien. Well that's a nice way to get played off the stage.
