The Dennis & Victoria Ross Foundation present an industry reading of Justine Gelfman’s In Sisters We Trust, or My Fucked Up American Girl Doll Play at Open Jar Studios May 12-13.

Starring in the reading are Tony winner Lauren Patten (Jagged Little Pill), 2022 Tony nominee Gabby Beans (The Skin of Our Teeth), Tony nominee Kristine Nielsen (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike), and Catherine Cohen (The Twist…? She’s Gorgeous). The reading is presented as part of the organization's Playwrights Program.

Joining them in the cast are also Tony nominee Caitlin Kinnunen (The Prom), Laura Dreyfuss (Dear Evan Hansen), Nicole Villamil (Network), Christine Jones (Marry Me), Jonathan Burke (The Inheritance), Elizabeth O'Donnell (Curb Your Enthusiasm), and Sohina Sidhu (Little Voice).

In Sisters We Trust, or My Fucked Up American Girl Doll Play brings together now-matured American Girl Dolls in a televised reunion that goes awry. When reality glitches, the dolls are thrown into a glossy feminist workplace where they must face the problems haunting corporate feminism and explore new ways of how to empower.

Susanna Wolk (Waitress) directs the reading of the play, which was a collaboration between Wolk and Gelfman. Ashley Chang serves as dramaturg, and Sarah Harris serves as stage manager. Casting is by Daryl Eisenberg and Ally Beans of Eisenberg/Beans Casting.
