New comedy film My Ex-Friend’s Wedding, co-written by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Ashley Rodger, has its stars—and its distributor, which will be Sony Pictures according to Variety.
Following four childhood friends, the movie will star Oscar winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story, Hamilton), Chloe Fineman (Saturday Night Live), Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia!), and Megan Stalter. The four embark on a mission to stop a wedding when a former best friend leaves them a drunken voicemail saying she thinks her upcoming wedding might be a mistake. Kay Cannon (Blockers) is attached to direct.
Filming is set to begin this year.
The news follows the recent reveal that DeBose will be a presenter at this year's Academy Awards. While My Ex-Friend's Wedding is in pre-production at the moment, Seyfried is also currently working on a musical version of Thelma & Louise which has been in development since at least 2021.
