The eight-episode series is based on the cult classic film.

The teaser trailer for Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television's highly anticipated series A League of Their Own has been released ahead of its August 12 premiere. Based on the cult classic film penned by Mr. Saturday Night co-writers and 2022 Tony nominees Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel, the series will consist of eight episodes and stars Broadway's Roberta Colindrez, Chanté Adams, and Molly Ephraim.

The series tells the story of a generation of women who dreamed of playing professional baseball. It will take a look at race and sexuality while broadening the field to an ensemble of characters. Watch the teaser trailer above.

The show features Adams, who recently made her Broadway debut in the three-time 2022 Tony Award-nominated play Skeleton Crew, as Max; Roberta Colindrez, who originated the role of Joan in Fun Home Off-Broadway and on Broadway, as Lupe; and Molly Ephraim, from Broadway's Fiddler on the Roof and Into the Woods, as Maybelle. The cast also includes Abbi Jacobson as Carson, D'Arcy Carden as Greta, Gbemisola Ikumelo as Clance, Nick Offerman as Dove, Saidah Arrika Ekulona as Toni, Kate Berlant as Shirley, Kendall Johnson as Gary, Kelly McCormack as Jess, Alex Désert as Edgar, Priscilla Delgado as Esti, Aaron Jennings as Guy, Melanie Field as Jo, Dale Dickey as Beverly. 

Broadway favorite (and noted fan) Rosie O'Donnell, who starred in the original flick, is listed to make a guest appearance.

A League of Their Own is co-created and executive produced by Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson. Executive producers are Hailey Wierengo, Desta Tedros Reff, along with pilot director Jamie Babbit.
