Museum of the Moving Image's See It Big: Sondheim, a screening series of 10 Sondheim films in its Redstone Theater, begins April 1 and runs through May 1. While mainly focused on film adaptations of Sondheim stage musicals, the series also includes a documentary and some of the late theatre writer's lesser-known film work.
Film musicals featured in the series include West Side Story (2021) and Ariana DeBose's recent Oscar-winning performance April 1 and 3, West Side Story (1961) April 2 and 3, Gypsy April 9 and 10, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum April 10 and 16, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street April 23 and 24, and Into the Woods April 24 and 29.

Screening April 9, 17, and 23 is Original Cast Album: Company, a documentary covering the recording session for the original Broadway cast album of Sondheim's groundbreaking 1970 musical Company. Also included are dramas Stavisky April 15 and 16, as well as The Last of Sheila and Dick Tracy, both screening April 30 and May 1. Sondheim wrote the film score for Stavisky, co-wrote the screenplay for The Last of Sheila, and contributed original songs for Dick Tracy.
The See It Big screening series is a collaboration between Museum of the Moving Image and Reverse Shot.
