A new podcast Loving You: The Untold Sondheim will release 12 episodes diving into "the man behind the myth," with candid interviews and heartfelt anecdotes chronicling the legendary life of theatrical composer Stephen Sondheim.
The first two podcast episodes will be released on all streaming platforms March 5, with the next two dropping March 12. Further episodes will release weekly anywhere you listen to podcasts, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Amazon Music.
A newly released trailer offers a sneak peek into the series, with snippets of interviews with podcast guests Julie Andrews, Mia Farrow, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ronan Farrow, Patti LuPone, and Maria Friedman—plus BAFTA-winning actor Alistair McGowan, who has lent his voice to portray Sondheim in his personal emails to Martin Milnes. Watch below.
Alongside Alistair McGowan as Sondheim, Young Steve is played by Daniel Cane (Come From Away), and Young Peter Jones is played by Eddie Andrews (Titanic The Musical). Sondheim’s encounters with his next-door-neighbor Katharine Hepburn feature the legendary screen actor played by Charlotte Page (Follies, Opéra de Toulon).
The star-studded lineup of podcast guests includes Jamie Bernstein, Dame Judi Dench, Adam Guettel, John Kander, James Lapine, Maltby and Shire, Bernadette Peters, Jonathan Tunick, John Weidman Maury Yeston, Christine Baranski, Len Cariou, Laurence Guittard, Donna McKechnie, Julia McKenzie, Millicent Martin, Ann Morrison, and Kurt Peterson.
