Gather your knives and your looking glass, it's time to solve another case. Netflix has dropped a trailer for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery—the upcoming sequel to the 2019 murder mystery Knives Out—which is set to be released December 23.
Several Broadway alums star in the film, including Daniel Craig (Macbeth, James Bond's No Time to Die), reprising the role of detective Benoit Blanc; Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton, One Night in Miami) as Lionel Toussaint; Kathryn Hahn (Boeing-Boeing, Marvel's WandaVision) as Claire Debella; and Ethan Hawke (True West, Marvel's Moon Knight).
They are joined by Edward Norton (Fight Club) as Miles Bron, Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist) as Peg, Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) as Duke Cody, Madelyn Cline (Stranger Things) as Whiskey, Kate Hudson (Almost Famous) as Birdie Jay, and Janelle Monáe (Hidden Figures) as Cassandra Brand.
Written and directed by Rian Johnson, the 2022 sequel film follows Southern detective Blanc as he solves a case in Greece. Unlike Knives Out, which was distributed by Lionsgate and released in theatres, Glass Onion will be released on Netflix for streaming with a limited theatrical release to be announced. Johnson serves as a producer for the sequel alongside Ram Bergman.
Knives Out introduced Blanc as he investigated the death of a crime novelist Harlan Thrombey, played by Christopher Plummer, and the motivations of his family members. Starring in that film's cast, in addition to Craig and Plummer: Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, and Toni Collette, among others. A third film, with Johnson and Craig returning, is reportedly in development.
