Tony winners Cynthia Erivo (The Color Purple), Leslie Odom, Jr. (Hamilton), and Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen) as well as West Side Story film star Rachel Zegler will pay tribute to late composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim in song at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
The four artists will be part of the 64th Annual Grammy Awards' In Memoriam segment, which will include a tribute to Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner Sondheim, who passed away November 26, 2021, at the age of 91. Mr. Sondheim was nominated for 17 Grammy Awards, winning seven.
Trevor Noah will host this year's Grammy Awards at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas. Currently scheduled to perform are Brothers Osborne, BTS, Brandi Carlile, Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X with Jack Harlow, Olivia Rodrigo, Jon Batiste, Foo Fighters, H.E.R., Nas, and Chris Stapleton.
The annual music celebration will be broadcast live on CBS April 3 beginning at 8 PM ET. The show will also stream and will be available on demand via Paramount Plus.
Filmed in 2023, the one-night-only event featured Brian Stokes Mitchell, Audra McDonald, Peter Friedman, and more from the Ahrens and Flaherty musical's original cast.
