Listen to Claybourne Elder Sing 'Finishing the Hat' From Debut Solo Recording, If the Stars Were Mine
The Company and Gilded Age star will celebrate the new album with concerts at 54 Below.

Claybourne Elder, best known for his work on Broadway in Company and on TV in HBO's The Gilded Age, will release his debut solo album later this week, and Playbill has an exclusive track. Listen to the actor, recently seen in the City Center Encores! staging of The Wild Party, sing "Finishing the Hat" from Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Sunday in the Park With George above.
Entitled If the Stars Were Mine, Elder's new recording will be available in digital and streaming formats from Center Stage Records April 3, on CD April 10, and on vinyl later in the year. Pre-add or pre-save the digital album, or pre-order the CD or vinyl here.
Bryan Perri and Rodney Bush serve as music directors for the new recording and also provide arrangements and orchestrations. Elder and Andrew House produce with Perri as co-producer.
If the Stars Were Mine also features tunes from Floyd Collins, Into the Woods, and If/Then, as well as songs made famous by Whitney Houston, Eartha Kitt, and Melody Gardot, while weaving in themes of sex, fatherhood, and religion.
