Broadway News Broadway Mask, Vaccination Policies to Remain in Place as New York Lifts Its Own Requirements

New York's vaccine and mask dates have expired, but both are still required for Broadway audiences.

The Show Must Go On world premiere at the Majestic Theatre

Broadway's mask and vaccination policy will remain in place through at least April 30, the most recent extension date for the policy announced last month, even as New York City's vaccine requirement is set to expire March 7. The indoor mask mandate for businesses expired throughout New York State February 10.

“Our current guidance is through April 30, and we are scheduled to update that guidance on April 1. Discussions are held weekly on our protocols, and at this point, there is no change to our guidance. We will, of course, let you know when it changes,” said Charlotte St. Martin, president of The Broadway League.

Officials have been clear that the lifting of mask and vaccine mandates on a governmental level does not preclude private businesses from instituting their own policies, as many arts venues on Broadway and beyond have done.

Currently established guidelines require that Broadway theatregoers five and up show proof of COVID-19 vaccination, with a second or final dose having been administered at least 14 days prior. Audiences must also wear a mask for the duration of the performance.

Along with the mask and vaccination requirement, a Buy With Confidence program allows for flexible exchanges and refunds through at least April 30.
