The second encore engagement of Alex Edelman's Just for Us at Off-Broadway's Greenwich House Theater has been extended. The run, which begins June 13, will now run through August 26 instead of July 23.
Directed by Adam Brace, Edelman shares personal tales about his brother AJ, an Olympian athlete, and having an unconventional holiday season in the stand-up show. At the core of the show, however, is Edelman's personal experiences with anti-Semitism, his decision to crash a New York City gathering of White Nationalists incognito, and the aftermath of that encounter.
“It’s been so wonderful to be embraced by the theatre community, and the fact that people continue to come see the show blows my tiny little mind,” Edelman said in a statement. “The Greenwich House Theater is so gorgeous, and I can’t wait to settle in and make it my own by introducing one houseplant to the dressing room.”
Just for Us made its sold-out Off-Broadway premiere at Cherry Lane Theatre with a run that ended February 19. Following its premiere, it had its first encore engagement at SoHo Playhouse with a run through April 30.
Edelman first presented the show in 2018 at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. It then transferred to London's Soho Theater and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, earning a Barry Award nomination and the Herald Angel Award along the way. Mike Birbiglia serves as producer.
