Film & TV News Skylar Astin Joins Grey's Anatomy in Recurring Role

The Spring Awakening star's recurring role will debut in the season 18 episode airing later this month.

Skylar Astin is joining Grey's Anatomy as a new character, Dr. Todd Earnes (P.h.D). His recurring role will debut in the season 18 episode “Put the Squeeze on Me,” airing March 24.

According to Deadline, Astin's character has a pregnant sister who is a patient at Grey Sloan Memorial, and is described as charming and handsome. On Twitter, the performer commented on his new role, writing "See you in Seattle!!"

Prior to his new role in the long-running drama, Astin made on-screen appearances in the cult movie musical Hamlet 2, and the Pitch Perfect franchise, opposite Tony nominee Anna Kendrick and Brittany Snow. He also starred in the Emmy Award-winning shows Crazy Ex-Girlfriend as Greg Serrano in season four and Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist as Max Richman.

Astin made his Broadway debut in the original cast of Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater's Spring Awakening. He has also starred in Hollywood Bowl productions of Rent and Into the Woods in the lead roles of Mark Cohen and the Baker, respectively.
