Film & TV News Report: Cole Escola Is Collabing With Miss Piggy

The Tony-winning star-creator of Oh, Mary! is working on bringing the diva pig to the big screen.

Cole Escola and Miss Piggy

Look alive, gays, theys, and allies. Cole Escola and Miss Piggy are (reportedly) collabing at last.

Academy Award-winning film star Jennifer Lawrence, in a visit to the Las Cultaristas podcast, revealed that she and fellow film star (and Broadway vet) Emma Stone are producing a feature film return for the Muppets' favorite sassy diva Miss Piggy, currently making her Broadway debut in Rob Lake Magic With Special Guests The Muppets. And, she says, they've got Tony-winning Oh, Mary! star and writer Cole Escola working on the screenplay.

The internet and theatre worlds were abuzz recently when Escola suggested publicly that a film adaptation of Oh, Mary! should star the porcine leading lady. This news isn't exactly that, but as long as Escola's dementedly hilarious mind is melding with the dementedly hilarious world of Miss Piggy, we doubt anyone's upset.

Also of note from Lawrence's podcast episode: she shares she was in line to star in the title role of Escola's Oh, Mary!, but the scheduling didn't work out. Here's hoping that one circles back sooner rather than later.

Needless to say, we're all too happy to see Escola's world domination extend from Broadway all the way to Hollywood and beyond, and will continue following this story.
