Alex Newell (Once On This Island) headlines Theatre Under the Stars' Lights Up Gala October 7. The Houston, Texas event kicks off at 6:30 PM.
Newell—Broadway actor, Glee and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist star, and Grammy-nominated singer—performs alongside members of the TUTS Pre-Professional Company and the Performance Troupe.
“The evening is sure to be the cat’s meow, featuring performances by Broadway and television star Alex Newell alongside our very own TUTS Education students,” said Patricia and Sig Cornelius, who chair this year's event with Dolores Cavatore and John Tobola, in an earlier statement. “Guests can look forward to an extraordinary evening of entertainment with a 1920s flair!”
“We’re thrilled to have Alex alongside our incredibly talented students this year as we’re celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Humphreys School,” added TUTS Executive Director Hillary Hart.
Theatre Under the Stars is a Houston-based non-profit for musical theatre, founded in 1968 by Frank M. Young.
