Our Little Secret: A True New Musical, which was presented in workshop in New York City last week, will have a full production in November in Toronto, Ontario. Our Little Secret will be part of the 2026–27 Off-Mirvish Season, taking place in Mirvish Productions’ CAA Theatre.
The Toronto engagement will follow a production at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton in October. Rent Tony nominee Adam Pascal has joined the musical’s creative team as director for both the Toronto and Edmonton runs, as the show sets its sights on further planned productions, including in New York.
Our Little Secret
is written by and stars Noam Tomaschoff, with music by Ryan Peters,
created with Russell Citron. The show is produced by Citron,
who is also a co-producer of Broadway’s Operation Mincemeat. Previews will begin November 3 in Toronto, with opening night
set for November 4 for a limited engagement through November 22.
The musical tells the true story of Tomaschoff's discovery that his parents weren't quite who he thought they were—and that he wasn't an only child.
“As high school best friends, Russell, Ryan, and I grew up steeped in the Toronto theatre scene. Having Our Little Secret make its way to a Mirvish theatre is a dream come true,” said Tomaschoff in a statement.
“It’s surreal. Really special for us. And building this show as best
friends is just such a joy—we hope that joy translates to our
audiences,” added composer Peters.
Creative Producer Citron stated, “The show’s story is crazy, unbelievable, and yet totally true.
The interesting part, though, is that despite how wild the story is,
everyone can see themselves somewhere in it. And that’s what makes it so
special. We can’t wait to share it with even more audiences.”
“Technology has made it possible for people to find out things about themselves and their families that were not possible before,” said John Karastamatis, Mirvish’s director of communications and programming. “And this is the first time I’ve seen a piece of entertainment tackle that.”
The Off-Mirvish season will also include the world premiere of Goblin: Christmas Carol, a Spontaneous Theatre Creation; the Canadian premiere of Suzie Miller's Prima Facie, starring Bethany Jillard and directed by Seana McKenna; the world premiere of Jackpot Twins, a Company Theatre Production, written and directed by Philip Riccio; and The Wrong Bashir, A Crow's Theatre Production, written by Zahida Rahemtulla and directed by Paolo Santalucia.
