Initial casting is set for the Los Angeles premiere of Millennials Are Killing Musicals, which will play The Colony Theatre in Burbank April 30-May 17 before arriving at a New York venue to be announced. Opening night is set for May 2.
Directed by Tony nominee Kristin Hanggi (Rock of Ages), the cast will be led by Emma Hunton (Good Trouble, Spring Awakening) as Brenda, John Krause (Hadestown, Wicked national tour) as Nate and Atlas, and Diana Huey (The Little Mermaid) as Katrina. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
The original musical comedy, featuring a book, music, and lyrics by Nico Juber, follows Brenda, a single millennial mom who just wants to do better “adulting” when her younger #influencer sister Katrina shows up eight months pregnant and totally unprepared for motherhood.
The upcoming production will also have music direction, arrangements, and orchestrations by Anthony Lucca, choreography by Michelle Elkin, and casting by Michael Donovan and Richie Ferris.
The musical played a limited developmental engagement at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament's Theatre 71 in May 2023 with Grammy and Emmy winner Kristolyn Lloyd. An original cast recording followed. The upcoming production will mark the musical's official world premiere.
