The Zionists Finds Full Casting for Miami New Drama World Premiere
The new work from S. Asher Gelman follows a Jewish family struggling to reconcile their politics in the aftermath of October 7.

S. Asher Gelman's The Zionists: A Family Storm will make its world premiere at Miami New Drama April 9-May 3, playing the company's Colony Theatre. Chloe Treat is directing, with the production set to transfer to Massachusetts' Barrington Stage Company following the Yale Rep run. The premiere is being produced in association with Midnight Theatricals.
The work follows a Jewish family that finds themselves trapped indoors with a storm raging outside during a family reunion in the Caribbean. In the aftermath of October 7, long-held grievances intermingle with new political fears.
Miami New Drama's cast will feature Shira Alon (Through Her Glasses) as Dana, William DeMeritt (The Skin of Our Teeth) as Zephyr, Coby Getzug (Merrily We Roll Along) as Aaron, Joanna Glushak (1776) as Ruth, Avi Hoffman (Too Jewish Trilogy) as Mitchell, Jamie Ann Romero (The Cottage) as Maria, Dani Stoller (Birthright) as Bex, and Gregg Weiner (Lincoln Road Hustle) as David. Casting is by Geoff Josselson.
The production will feature scenic design by Adam Koch, lighting design by Solomon Weisbard, costume design by Anya Klepikov, wig design by Carol Raskin, projection design by Bryce Cutler, and prop design by Jameelah Bailey. Amy Rauchwerger will stage manage.
