Stages' cast is led by Ryan Alvarado as Usnavi, with Tami Dahbura as Abuela Claudia, Marlene Fernandez as Carla, Luis-Pablo Garcia as Sonny, Tauren Hagans as Camila, Jahir Lawrence Hipps as Benny, Edward Juvier as Kevin, Isabel Leoni as Nina, Amanda Robles as Vanessa, Cristian Rodriguez as Graffiti Pete, Michael Schimmele as Piragua Guy, and Ariana Valdes as Daniela.
The creative team includes direction and choreography by Luis Salgado, scenic design by Tony nominee Anna Louizos, costume design by Brad Musgrove, lighting design by Sean M. Savoie, sound design by Bethany “Beef” Gratz, and music direction by Walter “Bobby” McCoy.
In the Heights debuted Off-Broadway in 2007 before transferring to Broadway, where it played 1,184 performances at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. In addition to Best Musical, In the Heights earned Tony Awards in 2008 for Best Original Score, Best Choreography, and Best Orchestrations. The show was also a finalist for the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. A movie adaptation was released in 2021, after COVID-19 delays. The movie premiered June 11 in theatres and via HBO Max.
