Lin-Manuel Miranda and Susan Egan will be honored with the Disney Legends Award this August at Disney's annual D23 fan event. Miranda and Egan will be acknowledged in a ceremony hosted by Ryan Seacrest August 16 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
The lifetime award acknowledges the stars, storytellers, and leaders behind Disney's enduring legacy. The ceremony will be available for streaming on Disney+, allowing fans around the world to watch.
Miranda, the prolific, Pulitzer Prize-winning creator and composer behind Broadway's Hamilton and In the Heights, composed the score for a number of Disney animated films, including Moana and Encanto, also contributing new songs to the Disney canon for live action adaptations such as The Little Mermaid and Mary Poppins Returns, and even penned a song for Episode IX of Star Wars, The Rise of Skywalker.
Egan has lent her iconic voice to two Disney heroines, originating the role of Belle in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, and voicing Megara in the 1997 animated film Hercules. Egan has long embraced her history with the Walt Disney Company, performing in countless Disney Princess concerts and cabarets across the United States, as well as several in the Disney Parks. She is also a frequent guest at the annual D23 fan event.
