The cast is set for the upcoming world premiere of Alan Fox’s Safe Space. As previously reported, the Jack O’Brien-helmed production will run June 25–July 21 as part of Bay Street Theater’s 2019 mainstage season.

Mercedes Ruehl (Broadway’s recent Torch Song revival), Sasha Diamond (Blindspot), and Rodney Richardson (The Day Shall Come) will take the stage at the Sag Harbor, New York, venue to tell the story of an African-American professor and the head of an elite university facing accusations of racism from a student.

The staging will feature the work of a host of Tony-winning designers: David Rockwell (sets), Jane Greenwood (costumes), Bradley King (lighting), and John Gromada (sound), as well as projection design by Jeff Sugg. Casting is by Will Cantler of Telsey + Co.

The Bay Street season kicks off May 28 with Wade Dooley’s The Prompter; the lineup also includes a new production of Annie Get Your Gun.
