Tony-winning regional theatre Goodspeed Musicals has announced its 2023 season. The East Haddam, Connecticut theatre will kick off with its first production of Arthur Laurents, Jule Styne, and Stephen Sondheim's Gypsy. The Golden Age musical will run April 28-June 18, 2023 under the direction of Jenn Thompson. It is presented through arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Tams-Witmark.

The world premiere of Summer Stock, adapted from the George Wells and Sy Gromberg film, will follow July 7-August 27, 2023. Summer Stock will feature music by Harold Arlen, Harry Warren, and Gene DePaul, with lyrics by Johnny Mercer, Mack Gordon, Saul Chaplin, Jack Brooks, Ted Koeler, E.Y. Harburg, Billy Rose, and Leo Robin.

In the fall, new musical The 12 will take the stage September 8-October 29, 2023. Robert Schenkkan pens the book and lyrics, with music and lyrics by Neil Berg. Set to be directed by Tony winner John Doyle, the work follows 12 disciples who come together to create a powerful moment following the death of their leader. The rock musical was produced in 2015 at Denver Center in Colorado in a production helmed by Richard Seyd.

The season will close with Dreamgirls, directed by Lili-Anne Brown, in its Goodspeed debut November 10–December 30, 2023.

Both Gypsy and Dreamgirls are being presented through arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Tams-Witmark.

"Goodspeed is in the midst of a robust recovery. Due to the hard work, careful attention, and stewardship by every member of our team, audiences are very nearly at pre-pandemic levels and response to the work has been overwhelmingly positive," shares Artistic Director Donna Lynn Hilton in a statement. "For 2023, we have planned a bold and engaging season of classic and new musicals which will build on our recovery success and continue to offer opportunities for a diverse range of artists, technicians, and artisans while growing our audience of musical theatre lovers. I am particularly excited that our 2023 season will include two new musicals including one world premiere."
