Off-Broadway News INTAR Theater Extends World Premiere of Vámonos

Julissa Contreras' play follows a Dominican family in the Bronx post-9/11.

Presented by INTAR Theater and Radio Drama Network, Julissa Contreras' Vámonos has been extended for a final time through June 11. The world premiere opened May 1 after beginning previews April 22.

Vámonos tells the story of the Torres family, a Dominican family from the Bronx who gather to celebrate the christening of Juana's grandson, Christopher. It’s just a year after 9/11, and this bilingual play explores how the family navigates a new reality that challenges their sense of security.

The Off-Broadway run stars Cindy Peralta, Yohanna Florentino, Angela Reynoso, Kiara Lauren, Cesar J. Rosado, Denzel Rodriguez, and Ansi Rodriguez.

Director Tatyana-Marie Carlo helms the creative team including scenic designer Rodrigo Escalante, costume designer Jennifer Colón, lighting designer Alberto Ruiz, sound designer Germán Martinez. The production also features video and projections by Stefania Bulbarella.
