T. Adamson will receive the 2022 Paula Vogel Playwriting Award, presented by Vineyard Theatre's Emerging Artists Celebration. Tony-, Olivier-, and Grammy-nominee Judy Kuhn (Fun Home) will host the evening honoring Adamson November 15 at 6 PM. Along with the award presentation, last year's recipient Ryan J. Haddad will sit down with Adamson for a Q&A.
Named in honor of Paula Vogel, the residency-based award is given to an emerging writer each year. It also includes a cash prize and support for the writer's artistic development. Vineyard Theatre awards the honor as the home for the premieres of Vogel's plays Indecent, Pulitzer-winning How I Learned To Drive, and The Long Christmas Ride Home. The residency-based award is given each year to an emerging writer of exceptional promise, and comes with a cash prize and artistic development support.
Adamson's works, which include No Nothing, The Straights, and Usus, have been developed with Playwrights Horizons, Great Plains Theater Commons, Clubbed Thumb, JACK, Cutting Ball, Mercury Store, Spring Street Social Society, and Fresh Ground Pepper, in addition to others. The 15th recipient of the award, Adamson joins the ranks of Ryan J. Haddad, John J. Caswell Jr., Charly Evon Simpson, Jeremy O. Harris, Antoinette Nwandu, Kate Tarker, Boo Killebrew, Clare Barron, Christopher Chen, Erika Sheffer, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Kara Lee Corthron, Rajiv Joseph, and Tarell Alvin McCraney.
