Ma-Yi Theater Company and The Public Theater are extending The Chinese Lady's run by two weeks. Previews began February 23 with opening night set for March 8. The production, playing The Public's Shiva Theater, is now set to close April 10.

Obie winner Ralph B. Peña directs Shannon Tyo and Daniel K. Isaac who are reprising their roles as Afong Moy and Atung, respectively. Telling the true story of the first Chinese woman in the United States, Suh's play provides a dark and unique portrait of 19th century America as Afong Moy travels around the nation as a living exhibit.

This second collaboration between The Public and Ma-Yi Theater Company features scenic design by Junghyun Georgia Lee, costume design by Linda Cho, lighting design by Jiyoun Chang and Elizabeth Mak, sound design, original music, and composition by Fabian Obispo, and projection design by Shawn Duan. Serving as production stage manager is Maggie Manzano alongside stage manager Brody Thrash.

At select performances, Cindy Im and Jon Norman Schneider will play Afong Moy and Atung, respectively.
