John Scherer will star as Man in Chair, the musical theatre devotee who invites audiences to uncover a “lost” theatrical treasure, in Goodspeed Musicals production of The Drowsy Chaperone.
The principal cast will also include Ruth Gottschall as Mrs. Tottendale, Stephanie Rothenberg as Janet Van De Graaf, and Jennifer Allen in the title role of the Drowsy Chaperone. Completing the cast are John Rapson as Adolpho, Jay Aubrey Jones as Underling, Clyde Alves as Robert Martin, Tim Falter as George, James Judy as Feldzieg, Ruth Pferdehirt as Kitty, Blakely Slaybaugh as Gangster 1, Parker Slaybaugh as Gangster 2, Danielle Lee Greaves as Trix the Aviatrix, as well as Abby Church, Bryan Thomas Hunt, Hallie Brevetti, James Spencer Dean, Evan Mayer, and Gabi Stapula.
Directed by Hunter Foster, The Drowsy Chaperone will begin previews September 21 ahead of an October 19 opening night. Performances continue through November 25.
Gregg Barnes, who designed the original Broadway costumes for Drowsy Chaperone, returns for the Goodspeed production. The creative team also includes choreographer Chris Bailey, scenic designer Howard Jones, lighting designer Kirk Bookmsn, wig and hair designer Mark Adam Rampmeyer, and music director Michael O’Flaherty. Orchestrations are by Dan DeLange.
