Trans Entertainment Guild presents a concert version of The Civility of Albert Cashier, featuring an all-Trans cast and creative team, May 5–June 5 at Off-Broadway's Players Theatre.
The cast includes Achilles Mulkey, Dee Luu, DeShawn Jenkins, Dexter Warren, Fin Gagnon, Imani Russell, Jace ‘n Ziev, Joshua Dominique (JD), Kristyn Michele, Lily Ali-Oshatz, Mark Mendez Muñoz, Nikomeh Anderson, Parker Wallis, Salem Corwin, and Stevie Jae Davis.
Mika Kauffman directs and choreographs with music direction and music supervision by Nicole D’Angelo, assistant choreography by Stevie Jae Davis, script consultation by Grey F. Jackson, and warm-up coaching by Nikomeh Anderson.
Jay Paul Deratany, Coyote Joe Stevens, and Keaton Wooden's musical concerns a Trans Civil War soldier, and each performance will be followed by talkbacks and panels about Trans issues and liberation.
“There are so many incredible Trans and gender-expansive artists of intersectional identities, backgrounds, and abilities that exist in New York and beyond. We hope this event can create space for celebrating our history, our stories, and uplifting the community at a time when we need it most,” says director Kauffman. “The community we’re fostering and the work we’re doing in our rehearsal room is the exact mission of TEG—to dismantle oppressive systems and better the working conditions of Trans professionals in entertainment.”
The stage manager is Dexter Warren, the assistant stage manager is Parker Wallis, and the general manager is Abbey Howard.
The evenings benefit Callen-Lorde, the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund, The Black Trans Travel Fund, Trans Voices Cabaret, Community Oasis Igniting Liberation, and SAGE.
